Refrigerator/Freezer Recycling

Turn in your old, inefficient refrigerator or freezer and help reduce energy use while freeing up space in your home. Recycling outdated appliances helps remove energy-hungry equipment from service and supports a more efficient electric system. This rebate is available for qualifying ENERGY STAR® certified refrigerators and freezers.

REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Must be able to verify Energy Star® rating of new refrigerator/freezer.
  • Provide a copy of the receipt showing purchase with model number and a copy of the yellow Energy guide
  • Refrigerators/freezers must be recycled to be eligible for rebate
  • Must be 7.75 cubic foot or greater
  • Eligible appliance recycling include: refrigerators and freezers, maximum 2 units per year per member account

INCENTIVE OVERVIEW: 

  • $20 for a new Energy Star® rated appliance
  • $60 per unit for refrigerator or freezer recycling (Maximum of $120 per member account per year)

Rebate Eligibility Checklist

Before making your purchase, ensure your upgrade meets our standard qualification criteria:

  • Cooperative Membership: You must be an active member of High West Energy.
  • Service Location: The appliance or equipment must be installed in a property actively served by High West Energy.
  • Energy Star Certification: The equipment must be ENERGY STAR® certified or meet qualifying model guidelines. 

  • 90-Day Window: You must notify us and submit your rebate request form within 90 days of the purchase date.
  • Proof of Purchase: You must provide a clear copy of the original receipt and documentation showing the item's model number.
  • Yellow Energy Guide: You must provide a copy of the Yellow Energy Guide for your appliance.
  • Proof of Recycling: You must provide proof that the refrigerator or freezer was recycled.
